Lou Greco believes home inspections are critical to the buying process. Owner of Ottawa-based Greco Home Inspections, Lou is a staunch advocate of this vital information exchange, and is committed to establishing higher levels of customer service in this profession.

Lou has a strong background in management and document preparation. Prior to launching his Home Inspection business, he was a Project Executive for IBM leading a team of managers and support personnel supporting one of IBM’s largest clients in Ottawa.

With IBM since 1974, Lou retired in 2007, after winning several corporate awards which compliment his civic Volunteer of the Year awards for his participation with Bell Capital Cup and the Ottawa-Tourism Volunteer of the Year award for his work on the Ottawa International Hockey Festival.

“I believe very strongly in relationships, whether it’s in my professional community, or my civic neighbourhood. It’s important people know they can trust me as an individual, and as a professional with the skills to do the job.”

Lou enlarged upon his knowledge of construction and home renovations with formal class work. “I have always had a passion for anything to do with construction and home building. I was always helping friends with renovations and repairs. I augmented my practical construction experience by attending the Home Inspection Certificate program at Algonquin College between 2005 and 2006,” he explains. “I took all of the courses offered by Algonquin, and the Ontario Association of Home Inspectors (OAHI).”

Successful completion of the programs and courses allowed Lou to become a member of the OAHI, which is the governing body of home and property inspectors in Ontario. The designation is important to Lou, and he stresses it should be critical to home buyers.

There is great value in hiring a member of OAHI. Membership in OAHI proves I’ve achieved a level of competency that meets rigorous standards. It says I have completed the mandatory educational requirements, have applied to the governing body, and have satisfied my peers that I am proficient in performing home inspections.
